This PR begins to replace the use of Blender's "BLI_kdopbvh" BVH tree
for meshes with Embree. Embree is a much newer implementation and and
has much better performance characteristics. In particular, building
the BVH is over 5 times faster. Raycasting against the BVH and closest
point sampling is faster as well.
With the extensive usage of the old BVH API across Blender, it's
unrealistic to do a complete replacement in a single PR. This change
focuses on the triangle surface BVH, in cases where the replacement
is relatively obvious. The idea is that enough uses are covered so
that in most use cases only the Embree BVH will be needed.
Because Embree is an optional dependency, there also needs to be a
fallback to use the old API. If we ever wanted to remove the old BVH
implementation we could discuss making it a mandatory dependency.
Test results are different in a few cases because Embree chooses a
different triangle for the arbitrary choice of closest triangle on
either side of an edge. I also had to increase the threshold for the
hair dynamics test, where small differences in any intermediate values
are chaotically amplified.
Next steps are described in #161529.
This was investigated before in !108148.

Two simple tests for the dynamics assets. Also replace the specific
simulation test Python code with a test for a specific custom property
on the scene which tells the test code to run through the frame range
before applying modifiers.

Previously the tests ignored cases where attributes didn't exist on one
of the meshes being compared. This makes a whole class of bugs invisible
to the tests. It also hid the fact that some of the test files were
completely useless; the expected object never had its modifier applied.
Mostly the changed attribute are the selection attributes, which as of
(years!) ago are propagated as generic attributes. There are a few other
cases like that too. I also had to clarify the behavior of the Points to
Vertices node which now doesn't create attributes for topology. I think
that's a better design anyway and they'll be created later if necessary.
Beyond that, a few more changes:
- Print the mismatched attributes in the geometry comparison
- Fix the names of the builtin mesh attributes
- Display attributes even for empty domains in the spreadsheet
- Don't create "sharp_face" on a circle without fill faces
- Don't "do_selection" when updating failed tests.
This is just confusing and pointless

The existing `OperatorSpecObjectMode` operator was unnecessarily
restrictive.
Prior to this change, it specifically handled setting the object to
Object mode and then calling a specific `bpy.ops.object` operator with
given parameters.
Instead of extending this to define one per-mode, and to allow calling
operators outside of the `object` module, this commit converts the class
and its usages to `OperatorSpec` where the target mode and containing
module are specified as parameters.

When creating a new mesh test (e.g. a geometry nodes test), the code would just
copy the object without applying modifiers. This results in the test failing
initially.
I noticed this due to another issue in `verify_attributes_compatible` which
allows meshes to compare equal when they have a different set of attributes
right now. This results in my test file not being properly created at all,
because the test succeeded even without applying the modifier.
Pull Request: https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender/pulls/154463
Many of the modifier tests run off of a monolithic `modifiers.blend`
file via the `modifiers.py` test file. Because test data is stored in
the blend file, merging is particularly troublesome, which is
particularly exacerbated when porting changes to the LTS branch.
To begin mitigating this problem, in preparation for adding more
multires modifier tests, this commit extracts the existing test and test
objects into their own files into the
`tests/python/modeling/modifiers` folder.
Additionally, a new helper `main` method is added to `mesh_test.py`
to reduce duplication across files that will follow this format.

This is a basic armature deformation test for #141535 using Lattices instead of
Mesh as the target object type. Lattice deformation was briefly broken, which is
caught by this test.
The test adds the general-purpose `unit_test_compare` function to lattice object
data. It only compares lattice point counts and positions for now, more data can
be added later if necessary.
The `MeshTest` class did not support lattice object types yet, so needed some
changes. The Curves case was already supported, but only by full conversion to
mesh data, without actually using the `unit_test_compare` function specific for
curves geometry. This is unchanged, because applying constructive modifiers on
curves does not work. If it were not for this limitation the test could do
actual curves comparisons now.
For lattice support the `MeshTest` class comparison function has been
generalized to all supported object data types. It runs the appropriate
`unit_test_compare` api function and validation where supported (only meshes at
this point).

Test for armature deform modifier settings that are not yet covered by other tests:
- Vertex Group vs. Envelope deformation and both combined.
- Vertex group masking ('vertex_group' setting of the modifier)
- Inverted vertex group masking
- Preserve Volume (dual quaternions)
- Vertex Group/Envelope influence mixing (bone option)
- B-Bone deformation
- Multi-modifier mixing
Each case has a new test/expected mesh pair in the modifiers test.

The `apply_modifiers` property of the `RunTest` class overrides
all of the test level `apply_modifier` properties. This prevents
modifiers from manually specifying when a modifier is applied and forces
the modifier to be applied immediately after it is added.
The vast majority of tests do not override the `apply_modifier`
property, the primary usecase for this property is to work in
combination with the `do_compare` property to allow examining the
corresponding .blend file to debug test failures.
This commit simplifies the settings by removing this parameter. It now
only disables applying the modifier if `do_compare` is set to False.

When opening Geometry Nodes regression test files I always find a bit annoying
that the `expected_object` and not the `test_object` is active. That's because
only the `test_object` contains the modifier or node tree that is being tested.
Therefore, usually my first step when opening these files is to select the
`test_object` first.
This patch changes it so that when mesh tests are updated, the `test_object` is
made active in the end before the file is saved again.

This adds a `unit_test_compare` function to `Curves`.
Compares the curves. Curves are the same if:
* The number of points matches.
* The number of curves matches.
* The attribute names are the same and have the same type.
* The point attribute values are within the `threshold`.
* The curve topology matches (e.g. the curve sizes are the same).
* The curve attribute values are within the `threshold`.
* The indices of the points and curves are the same (can be ignored if this should be treated as the same).
The implementation reuses the same functions as the existing
comparison function for meshes.

Currently the mesh boolean code is producing a different index order on the latest
version of XCode on macOS. This is proving very difficult to investigate, and it's
preventing developers from spending time on more important things.
As a compromise for now, allow configuring certain geometry nodes tests to make
meshes with a different index order still pass the test. This can be done by adding
a boolean custom property with the name `allow_index_change` to the test object
and setting it to "True". Allow the index change on different platforms is unfortunate,
spending time on working on a replacement exact boolean algorithm is a more
valuable use of time currently.
After this commit lands, someone who can reproduce the failing test on their
computer should update tests to include that custom property as necessary.

Listing the "Blender Foundation" as copyright holder implied the Blender
Foundation holds copyright to files which may include work from many
developers.
While keeping copyright on headers makes sense for isolated libraries,
Blender's own code may be refactored or moved between files in a way
that makes the per file copyright holders less meaningful.
Copyright references to the "Blender Foundation" have been replaced with
"Blender Authors", with the exception of `./extern/` since these this
contains libraries which are more isolated, any changed to license
headers there can be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Some directories in `./intern/` have also been excluded:
- `./intern/cycles/` it's own `AUTHORS` file is planned.
- `./intern/opensubdiv/`.
An "AUTHORS" file has been added, using the chromium projects authors
file as a template.

Geometry nodes supports simulation nodes which allows later frames to depend
on previous frames. The existing geometry nodes regression tests only evaluated
the node tree at a single frame and therefore couldn't test the correct behavior of
simulations.
This adds a new kind of regression test that evaluates the scene at multiple
consecutive frames and then checks if the last frame matches.

It can be assumed that all scripts comply with basic pep8 formatting
regarding white-space, indentation etc.
Also remove note in best practices page & update `tests/python/pep8.py`.
If we want to exclude some scripts from make format,
this can be done by adding them to `ignore_files` in:
source/tools/utils_maintenance/autopep8_format_paths.py
Or using `# nopep8` for to ignore for individual lines.

Runs tests based on blend files with minimum python interaction.
Developed as part of GSoC 2021 - Regression Testing of Geometry Nodes.
Earlier, tests were built from scratch by adding a modifier/operation
from the Python API.
Now, tests can also be created inside blender and are compared using
Python script.
Features: Automatically adding expected object if it doesn't exist.
This patch adds tests for the following Geometry Nodes category:
* Curves
* Geometry
* Mesh
* Points
The implemented UML diagram for refactoring of mesh test framework.
{F10225906}
Technical Changes:
SpecMeshTest: It adds the modifier/operation based on the Spec provided.
BlendFileTest: It applies already existing modifier/operation from the blend file.
Test folders hierarchy with tests. This folder should be extracted to `lib\tests\modeling`
{F10240651}
Note: The `geometry_nodes` folder might lie under another `geometry_nodes` folder while extracting, please double check. Use the inner-most one.
The hierarchy should be:
-`lib\tests\modeling\geometry_nodes\mesh`
-`lib\tests\modeling\geometry_nodes\points`
and so on.
* From `ctest` the tests should be run as `ctest -R geo_node -C [Configuration]` on Windows.
* Each single test can be run with its entire name e..g `ctest -R geo_node_geometry_join_geometry`.(just an example). Run `ctest -N -R geo_node` to see all tests.
* From blender, the tests can be run `blender -b path\to\blend\file --python path\to\geo_node_test.py`

MeshTest now compares selection between evaluated mesh and expected mesh. This way, we can test more operators
such as `faces_select_linked_flat`
Note: selection comparison intentionally does not happen in BKE_mesh_cmp() on C side but rather on Python side, because
selection is independent of mesh generation.

This revision contains the following changes-
- Updated the existing testing framework for Modifiers for Regression
Testing.
- Tests for Physics modifiers and remaining Generate and Deform modifiers are added.
- The existing `ModifierSpec` is updated with backward compatibility to support Physics Modifiers.
- Now there is support for frame number and giving nested parameters for attributes.
- Some Deform modifiers required Object Operators, e.g. "Bind" in Mesh Deform, so a new class was added to support that functionality.
- A separate class for holding Particles System, they are tested by converting all the particles to mesh and joining it to the mesh they were added.
- Updated the format to add tests for Bevel, Boolean and Operators as
well.

Patch from Habib Gahbiche (zazizizou) moves the "run operator and

into a general framework that separates the test specs from the
blend files. Then adds some other operator and modifier tests using
the new framework. Diff D5357.id20724.diff was applied.
